PHOTO GUIDELINES FOR ONLINE CARICATURE ORDERS

When creating a caricature from a photo, we only get one chance to get an idea of what the subject looks like, so a good photo is very important. Here are some basic guidelines to insure the best quality caricature possible:

  • Each head to be caricaturized should be approx. 2 inches from chin to top of head or larger

  • Each subject should be making an expression similar to that desired in the final product.

  • If not absolutely clear in the photos, please specify eye & hair color. Keep in mind dark hair is very hard to make out against a dark background, especially if you do not know the person. If hair style is not clear in the photo, please provide a second photo for hair style if possible.

  • Please include each individual's hobby or interests if a body/background is desired.

  • When in doubt of the quality of your photo, please e-mail photo to info@cartoonslinger.com with any questions before making payment.

The photos and sketches below are samples of real customers' photos and the caricatures created from them. all images are scaled down to save space.

To create a caricature with multiple subjects, it is not necessary for everybody to be in one photo, in fact it often works better to work from more than one photo in order to get a good expression of everyone involved. I used the 2 photos on the left to create the caricature of the couple on the right. They requested an outdoors style background with mountains and flowers, and wanted a gown for her and a suit with no tie for him and hiking boots for both.


           


 

This baby's parents love to surf and requested an airbrush caricature of their child in a hot pink bikini on a hot pink surfboard to match her room.



This father/son accounting team wanted a caricature they could use on black & white fliers to drum up some new business for tax season. Every item in this cartoon was requested specifically.
